St-Come Quebec
Ice Sculpture Festival on Now!
On the Road to St-Come

On
the way out of St-Zenon, I stopped to grab a photo of the trail across
from the Bistro. It's excellent, even though it is a very busy trail.
A testiment to the efficiency of our snow dozers that groom 24 - 7
around here.

On my way to St-Emily, the sun came out and brought out the beauty
of these ice formations along the road.

As soon as I entered St-Come, I was greeted by this moose, what a
beautiful piece of art.

These two elfs are not finished.

St-Come
Ice Sculpture Michel Venne is a true artist, just wait till you see
his latest creation! You must see this up close. Here he is sweeping
the loose snow off of the sculpture, because he says, it acts like
acid on the ice! "I have to sweep it all every day, he said.

On the back end, the horses are pulling a real scale log sled. "My
Dad and I used to work with this exact rig in the woods, he said,
"pulling logs out of the bush all winter!"

A wheel barrow represents yet another working technology, that seems
to be the main theme this year, in many of the sculptures.

Here is a replica of an original toy that farmers would fashion for
their children to ride through the long winter months, before television
and video games relieved the boredom.

And here is an old Model T Ford, (just a guess).

This artist out does himself year in and year out. This is the same
guy that
built the Eiffel Tower... remember that one?

This artist tells me how he is building a giraffe, sitting on the
ground.
"His head will go here" he says.

Accompanying the work theme, is the recreation theme. Nice truck!

We saw one like this years ago, only this time, it is better!

I love this old house, now converted into a gift store.
Come to St-Come this winter, before
the sculptures melt!
