Leaving
St-Zenon

Last Monday around noon, I locked up the Zen Shack,
fed my two fat budgies, dropped Rocky off at Crazy Al's B&B, and
headed down the highway towards Shawinigan south. Well, that's how
it was supposed to happen.
I wanted to stay with Bernard for the night, then
get an early jump on the day. Destination Monts Valin, one hour north
of the town of Chicoutimi on the great Saguenay River in the Lac St-Jean
territory.
The plan was fast and loose. Throw an extra pair
of socks and shorts into my pack with my toothbrush, aspirins and
Tums to combat the poutine, then head over to Al's.
I jumped out of the Nissan and promptly locked my
keys in the ignition. Shoot! I knew I should have had a coffee
before leaving.
Al was up on the scaffolding finishing off the siding on his auberge,
and dragged me inside to taste his latest spaghetti sauce. Not bad.
He makes it by the bathtub now, and feeds it to anyone he can find.
It's not as good as John Micheli's wife's sauce, but hey, not bad
at all.

Notice the special work gloves!

Finally, I take off through St-Gabriel de Brandon, and over to Shawinigan.
