Early Season Snow Ride; Nov 26 2004
Part
Four:
Riding the Elite with Yvon!

Yvon runs the little Casse Croute called
Lachapelle. It is a church in the summer
and a snowmobile relay in the winter. Yvon
has many friends with good beds for sledders,
but his English is a little weak. He has an
employee that speaks very well, and can help
book you in somewhere nice.

That's Yvon's wife in the background.
(Names coming soon... lost my notes)

Two Ontarians! Yes yes yes, a fabulous
Ontario blonde on a great sled, mmmmm
indeed! Her man speaks French, and is a
bit more than I could handle, so I held back
my irresistible charms. (right!)

Ohhhh... mmmmmmm!

More smiles, they did several hundred miles.

Three big boys from Laval. All ZW fans!

The boss takes a call.

My host Richard, has many rooms, really nice.

Woof! Every snowmobile joint in Quebec has one...

Wife and worker.

Notes are lost till tomorrow.. 40 years I think, of bliss, new
Elite in background. Life is good!

Two old farts, good friends, do thousands of miles a year.
Serious riders, full of trail knowledge to be highly respected.

Yvon holds up the donation box for trail groomer fuel.
Twenty-five would help from each rider. Many of their trails are not
subsidized by the Federation. They groom 400 kilometers for a full
six months, and the other 400 for about four months. Most clubs only
groom for three months, and get the same money per kilometer of grooming.

Then Yvon offers to take the zen man for a romp.
This thing will do 100 miles an hour in the shade, and has twin tracks.
It basicaly costs the same as two machines, because that's what you're
getting.

Cool controls. The ride feels like an MGB from the 70's! It goes like
a bat out of hell, and corners like a dream.

Miles and miles of groomed trails. Eight groomers in all.

We arrive at the club's garage, and meet two groomers. Nice Bombardier
groomers!

Yes!

This time of year, they know the high snow down with this, then after
it hardens up, the use the heavy sleds that each have five knives!

A reliable driver is hard to find, but this guy is excellent.

Two hotties!

I got out and asked Yvon to zoom past me a few times to get a video.
Man, this buggy moves smooth! Very quiet. I think it's the dream machine
for the Zen man. So smooth and comfortable to ride in.

Left is Mitch from Clarence Creek, Zen, James from Rockland, and Zo
from Cassleman.
They are all excellent ZW supporters, and gave me
a huge donation. (Blew me away).
I saw about 30 riders up there, and almost everyone
knew me... whew! That felt good. I love that part best about this
work... not so much that I have some 'fame', but that I have true
appreciation. NOTHING feels better than that ! And, I wanna give it
right back atcha!

Yvon in the deep snow, which is nothing compared to what they have
up there today. I'll bet they got three more feet over the past two
weeks.

A gang from Quebec.. "Les Ours Blanc" is the name of their
club. The white bears.

Yup, I love these type of photos.. Plenty of niiice sleds everywhere.

The new 1000.

Yyyyyyaaaaaammmmmyyyyy!

Here is the very first Zen sticker being applied to a sled anywhere
at any time! Man does it look hot on this red sled! I guess the black
and white motif was a good idea after all. It looks good on any sled.
I hope all you members will be using your stickers.

Mmmmm! Thanks again to our sticker guys!
They printed these and GAVE them to us, all
the way from PA! Need printing? Call Bill...

Yvon also doubles as the gas jockey too!

After three days of good rides and sound sleeping in the great mountain
air, I had to come back down to earth. See the height? I was way up,
around 3,000 feet. This is why they get the snow so early, and it
remains so late!

This photo doesn't do justice to the landscapes. It is awesome. The
mountain tops pop out everywhere all around.

That's it for me in Mont Valin this year. Get up there and ride the
beauty of it all.
Corrections to follow soon.
Big Thanks to Yvon and his lovely wife for feeding
the Zen man three squares a day! Very good food boys!
Big Thanks to Richard for the bed, and the photo
tour!
